The important thing to remember is that the serial number is the most helpful tool in figuring out its age. Where it’s located on your boiler will depend on the model and manufacturer, though it can probably be found on the side or underneath the boiler. The serial number will be a unique set of letters and numbers that will be specific to that boiler. The structure of the number itself is different for each manufacturer, and you’ll need to know how to work them out for your specific brand.

How Old is my Worcester Boiler?

Let’s start with one of the most common manufacturers and one of the hardest to work out. In most cases for these kinds of boilers, you will have to get in touch with the brand’s customer services to find out the age. This is because the serial numbers were meant for employee use only, making it virtually impossible to figure out yourself. You may be able to find more general information about your boiler by putting the serial number into a database, though this won’t be specific to your model.

How Old is my Baxi Boiler?

While Worcester boilers are quite difficult to work out the age of, if you have a Baxi, it will be a much easier task. You will find the serial number on a bright sticker which can be located on the front of the appliances or inside panel. The number will have three letters/numbers at the start, which are the product code, followed by a series of other numbers. The first two will denote the year, so if it is 05, the boiler would have been made in 2005. The next two mark the week it was made, while the four after that label the appliance number in the week it was manufactured. The final two will identify where it was made, so the serial number here can offer a comprehensive amount of information.

Ideal Boilers

If you have an Ideal boiler, then the serial number structure will be different depending on the type you have. Despite that, regardless of the model, you’ll likely find it at the top of the device.

What is my Ideal Classic Boiler Age?

On this model, you will find a barcode with four sets of numbers. On the third set, you will find a figure of four digits, the first two showing the year it was made and the last two displaying which week. So, if the number was 0503, it would work out as manufactured in the third week of 2005. Ideal Minis are also structured in this way, but the number isn’t as long.

Logic and M Series

These two models both feature the date it was made at the end of the serial number. However, for those manufactured before 2015, it will be structured as the year, followed by the month and then the day. Models made after 2015 are formatted with the day first, the month second and the year last.
